“Hémera” Earth Observation Center was created in 2017 to fill the need of pushing knowledge and innovation in remote sensing application and research through strategic alliances with public and private sector at both national and international level, to impulse and support the development of agriculture, forest management and conservation, mining industry, tourism, and energy sector, among others.
Francisco Zambrano will develop a joint study with the Genomics and Bioinformatics Center (CGB) of the U. Mayor, which aims to determine the relationship between potential groundwater zones and the phenology of avocado and sclerophyllous forest in the Aconcagua River basin.
The initiative, supported by the Universidad Complutense (Spain), Universidad de La Serena and Dirección General de Aguas (DGA), will evaluate the water response of groundwater-dependent ecosystems to drought and climate change.
Waldo Pérez and Paulina Vidal will lead for the next two years (2024-2026) the “Study of natural hazards and climate change in operational areas of Anglo American”, located in the Metropolitan and Valparaíso Regions.
