Last Friday, April 21, the Liceo El Principal de Pirque and its Environmental Brigade, made up of 80 students, celebrated the commemoration of Earth Day. The day counted with the participation of the Hemera Earth Observation Center, presenting two talks by the researcher Dr. Paul Amouroux and the research assistants Natalia Tapia and Benjamín Castro.
The first talk given by Dr. Paul Amouroux, called The Wonderful World of Insects, provided knowledge on the classification and identification of the types of insects, their origin, ecological role and uses in which humans take advantage of them. The second talk, given by geographer Natalia Tapia and geologist Benjamín Castro, called Our Planet from Space, provided knowledge about satellites and their operation, remote sensing and their applications in Earth Sciences.
