As part of the project "Study of geology, geomorphology and natural hazards in the upper sector of the Mapocho River basin", the Biodiversity and Climate Change Management, Vice-Presidency of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of Anglo American, developed together with the Hémera Center and Amawta Geoconsultants, educational material on landslides in the current scenario of climate change in the foothills of central Chile.
The educational material prepared by geologist Dr. Jorge Clavero Ribes and U. Mayor geologist Valentina Ramírez Lagos, introduces mass landslide concepts such as debris flows and floods, establishes a climate projection for central Chile for the near future (2030-2059) and the distant future (2070-2099), and relates the effects of climate change on conditioning and triggering factors of mass landslides.
