In view of the climate crisis scenario, it is assumed that it is necessary to adopt measures to curb the inorganic growth of cities, where "coastal edge" policies and "integrated management of coastal areas" become imperative.
Based on the need to establish a "Coastal Law" for Chile, which protects the diverse coastal ecosystems, protected marine areas, and which manages and mitigates environmental damage and recognizes the existence of coastal wetlands, the book "Towards a Coastal Law in Chile: bases for an integrated Management of Coastal Areas" shows the work, research, views and proposals as an invaluable contribution to the change that must be made.
The research developed by Carolina Martínez and Idania Briceño de Urbaneja, called "Coastal Erosion in Chile: current problems and future challenges", presents the analysis of the spatio-temporal changes of the coastline for the last 40 years in 66 beaches of the country.
